Our Timeline

1867 ⦿ Banking House of J.H. Fitts forms J.H. Fitts Insurance Co.

1907 ⦿ J.A. Duckworth is hired by J.H Fitts Co. and moves to Tuscaloosa.

1918 ⦿ J.A. Duckworth and Charles Morris purchase the Fitts’ interest and change the name to Duckworth-Morris.

1920 ⦿ Real Estate and Rental Departments were established.

1925 ⦿ Duckworth-Morris establishes a savings and loan under the name Tuscaloosa Building and Loan

1929 ⦿ Clemson Duckworth graduates from The University of Alabama and goes to work for Duckworth-Morris as a bookkeeper.

1935 ⦿ Tuscaloosa Building and Loan name changed to First Federal Savings and Loan. Mr. J.A. Duckworth retires and becomes Chairman of the First Federal Board of Directors and Clemson Duckworth becomes president of First Federal Savings and Loan.

1949 ⦿ Clemson Duckworth returns from WWII and rejoins First Federal as President.

1957 ⦿ Johnny Duckworth returns from service in Air Force and goes to work for Duckworth-Morris and Real Estate Firm.

1964 ⦿ Joe Brown Duckworth graduates from the University of Alabama and goes to work for the firm as a real estate agent.

1966 ⦿ Joe Brown Duckworth goes to work for First Federal Savings and Loan.

1969 ⦿ Joe Brown Duckworth takes over Duckworth-Morris Real Estate and sets it up as a separate company.

1985 ⦿ Duckworth-Morris Insurance moves to 1701 McFarland Blvd and is now the USI insurance agency.

1991  ⦿Warner Johnson goes to work for Duckworth-Morris Real Estate as a property manager.

1992 ⦿ First Federal Savings and Loan Foundation purchases property and donates it to the City of Tuscaloosa for Capital Park.

1996 ⦿ Duckworth-Morris Real Estate moves to 1312 Greensboro Avenue.

1999 ⦿ Joe Duckworth, Jr. goes to work for Duckworth-Morris Real Estate as a commercial sales agent.

2015 ⦿ Duckworth-Morris Real Estate and partners form Keller Williams Tuscaloosa.
